Jalina Suggs is a driving force at UC, where she has dedicated the last seven years to fostering community growth and social change. Originally from Lynn, Massachusetts, Jalina has called Boston home since 2018, embracing the city's diversity and vibrant culture. As a queer, biracial (Black and White American) woman, she brings a rich perspective to her role, shaped by her own experiences and her deep commitment to inclusivity and empowerment.
Jalina’s journey with Union Capital began during her junior year at Clark University when she was looking for an internship. What began as an internship turned into a passion. Jalina quickly became immersed in the history of Boston, learning about the people, the challenges they face, and the resources available through Union Capital. Her commitment to the community and her love for the work she was doing led to her full-time role as Director of Boston, where she has since made a lasting impact.
In her current role, Jalina helps manage, lead, and coordinate Union Capital’s Boston-based team, ensuring the successful implementation of their programs. She oversees the organization’s event spaces, supervises the member rewards program, and facilitates feedback loops to support the ongoing engagement of UC members. Additionally, she plays a key role in UC’s leadership development initiatives, helping connect individuals and families with the resources they need to thrive.
Jalina believes that Massachusetts is rich with opportunities for positive change, joy, and collaboration. Through her work at Union Capital, she is committed to creating spaces where these opportunities can flourish, not just in Boston but throughout the state.
