Through some networking of his own, he came to Union Capital. At the beginning of his journey, as just a Network Coordinator, he wasn’t too confident in his abilities working this new job, but with the support of everyone he works with at UC, he started putting more work in and gradually gained more belief in himself. That’s the power of community!
Now, as a Lead Network Coordinator, Darien helps Union Capital Springfield with event planning, tabling events, partner organization discussions, assisting newcomers, and more. Darien has been with UC Springfield since the new location opened in 2023 and has seen tremendous growth within the community and organization. With nearly 2,000 members now, the impact is very noticeable.
Darien shares, “The members have gained more confidence and are more in tune with what we have going on, and we assist people with loneliness who don’t get out much. Now they have a club to join, it’s almost like a family type of thing. A lot of people that, before they joined UC, didn’t really do too much, and now they’re engaging with more people. You hear that from a lot of people.”
